What are cookies?

A cookie is a file that is downloaded to your computer when you access certain web pages. Cookies allow a website, among other things, to store and retrieve information about the browsing habits of a user or their computer and, depending on the information they contain and the way you use your computer, can be used to recognize the user.

What types of cookies does this website use?

  • Depending on the entity that manages them, cookies can be:

  • Third-party cookies: These are those that are sent to the user's terminal equipment from a computer or domain that is not managed by the editor, but by another entity that processes the data obtained through the cookies.

The Website uses both own and third party cookies.

  • Depending on the length of time they remain activated:

  • Session Cookies: These are a type of cookies designed to collect and store data while the user accesses a web page. They are usually used to store information that is only of interest to keep for the provision of the service requested by the user on a single occasion (e.g. a list of products purchased).

  • Persistent cookies: These are a type of cookies in which the data remain stored in the terminal and can be accessed and processed for a period defined by the cookie manager, and can range from a few minutes to several years.

The Website uses both persistent cookies and session cookies.

Are there only cookies?

There may be websites that use other forms of storage similar to cookies but with more capacity, such as other forms of local data storage on the client's computer, for example:

  • HTML5's LocalStorage and sessionStorage: space that the website can use on the user's computer. Normally deleting the Browsing history can clear them.

  • Flash "Local Shared Objects" (Silverlight's "isolated storage"): They are stored inside the Microsoft folder where you have the user profile. You have to enter the folder and delete it (Example: vimeo videos). Flash is used to incorporate multimedia elements in a web, and for it stores files in the user's computer.

  • The web beacon is used to track your activity, inserting a mini-image that you do not even notice. When you browse the web, it loads along with the page, and the server where the photo is downloaded, records the time of access, or how many times you have accessed.

These files are more intrusive than cookies, as they are more complicated to delete, store more information, and are independent of the browser used. We do not use this type of storage.
